零碎一角-笑语连篇

仰望星空

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were going camping. They pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes woke Watson up and said: “Watson, look up at the stars, and tell me what you see.”

福尔摩斯和华生医生当时正在野外宿营。他们倾斜着将帐篷扎在星空下，然后进入了梦乡。忽然，半夜福尔摩斯醒过来叫醒华生，并对他说：“华生，仰望星空，然后告诉我你看到了什么”。

Watson replied: “I see millions and millions of stars.”

华生说：“我看到了成千上万颗星星”。

Holmes said: “and what do you deduce from that?”

福尔摩斯说：“你从中可以得出什么结论呢”？

Watson replied: “Well, if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like earth out there. And if there are a few planets like earth out there, there might also be life.”

华生说：“如果那里有成千上万颗星星，即使只有一些是行星。那就很有可能有和地球相似的星球。如果有类似地球的星球的话，那里一定会有生命的存在”。

And Holmes said: “Watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent.”

福尔摩斯说：“华生，你这个傻瓜，那意味着有人偷了我们的帐篷”。
